About Cirella's

OUR FAMILY SERVING YOURS

Generations in the Restaurant Business

In 1987, Sal Cirella and his son Dean opened Cirella’s in Melville, Long Island. Building on years in the business, the two generations of Cirella’s collaborated to create a neighborhood restaurant that’s perfect for both family meals and business gatherings.

In addition to the traditional Italian specialties that have made the Cirella name famous in New York, we also serve some of the freshest and best sushi in Long Island.

We’re sure that once you experience the authentic Italian flavor of Cirella’s — for lunch or dinner — you’ll become “alla familia”…one of the family.

The Cirella Family: Nearly 60 Years of Serving Your Family

Sal Cirella started working in the New York City restaurant business in the 1940’s. He opened his first restaurant, Dollie’s Deli, in 1965. With his mother’s inspiration and Sicilian recipes in hand, Sal gave his customers not only sumptuous Italian cuisine, but the warmth of a home-style meal as well.

Sal became so well known in the restaurant business that he was invited to cook on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson on March 20, 1976. You can watch Sal teach Johnny how to make the perfect omelet below!

Melville, Long Island: Our Home Since 1987

Dean Cirella partnered with his father to open Cirella’s in Melville in 1987. Together, they created one of the most well-known restaurants in Suffolk County, Long Island.

Dean has since become the sole owner of Cirella’s and has continued his father’s tradition of serving delicious meals while treating every guest like family. Although some recipes may be traditional, the restaurant itself is newly renovated with a beautiful bar and spacious dining room.

In 2016, Dean expanded his presence in the area when he opened Gastronomy Kitchen by Cirella’s in the Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station.

Our Promise to You

At Cirella’s, we take pride in offering our customers a tantalizing blend of classic and modern approaches to Italian cooking, each with our own unique variations that set us apart from the majority of today’s “Italian” restaurants. And we do it all in a friendly, family atmosphere that’s equally conducive to business gatherings and private dining.

The reason is simple: we have a passion for good times and fine food. And we love nothing more than sharing both with our customers. That’s why you’ll always find a member of the Cirella family on premises, and a standard of quality and service excellence that’s second to none.
